I hate the thought of anorexia. It makes me feel sick to know that there are girls out there who are thin as sticks, with bones hanging out.... who look in the mirror and think they are fat. It is really hard to understand the whole thing.
In class, we watched a program about skinny celebrities, and it is amazing what some people will go through and do just to look "good". I don't even think it looks good... I can understand wanting to be thinner... just not to that extreme?
"Eating disorders are a range of mental health problems that involve preoccupations with food, weight and appearance to the degree that a person’s health, relationships and daily activities are adversely affected. Anorexia Nervosa (anorexia) and Bulimia Nervosa (bulimia) are two of the most recognised and most serious eating disorders. Anorexia Nervosa is characterised by a preoccupation with thinness, even though the person is underweight. Bulimia Nervosa is characterised by cycles of binge eating followed by behaviour to prevent weight gain. Individuals may have a mixture of symptoms and some people develop bulimia nervosa after anorexia nervosa. Both illnesses can be overcome, and the sooner the person seeks advice about the condition the better. Eating disorders are widespread and can affect people of all ages and both sexes, but they are more common in adolescent girls and young women. Statistics vary, but anorexia is thought to affect less than one per cent of teenage girls and young women. Estimates suggest that about two per cent of adolescent girls and young women have bulimia. Approximately five per cent of people with anorexia are male. It is thought that the number of males with bulimia may be somewhat higher. Some people develop eating disorders after a distressing event, but this is not the case for everyone. There is no scientifically established cause for eating disorders. "

WOOOOOOO!!!! Phoebe's Bloggin!!!
I thought Anorexia was more widespread than that... Though I guess that would be talking about, like, the serious, life-threatening, scary situations, as opposed to an unhealthy preoccupation with thinness. a penny for one's thoughts...
That's cause lots of girls wish they were thinner, and they're not anorexic. And anorexia is difficult to diagnose until they start losing lots of weight.
Now, where's my penny?
No probs Phoebe. You've got talent! Audrey 2 was your role and you did one heck of a job with it! Can't wait to hear the cool songs again tonight, but it's the last time :( Ah well, catch ya later :)
