doing this production was so much fun, but it was also so difficult. i wish that i could have had an extra week just to get my characters up to better standards and maybe show more depth.
but i am still happy with where i was at.
the class was amazing over the production week and i thoroughly enjoyed performing with all of you. you all have such great talent and not to say i was surprised or anything.. but you blew me away :)
i will never forget our before performance warm ups and our super dance to that paul simon song

gahh.
not long to go now until we put on the production, and our class STILL has no focus. i'm not saying that no one does.. and i'm not saying that i sometimes have no focus whatsoever.. but it really gets annoying and i have to stop myself from screaming.. or crying sometimes.
i'm not one to get reeeeeally stressed or anything, but if the class keeps this up for the next 1 and a bit weeks until we perform i am pretty sure i will die.
please everyone. lets just focus and get through more than just 2 scenes each practise. that would be lovely :)

character stuff;
i am also now the showgirl in the play, so that should be a good role for me to play in contrast to the councellor. they are both such different characters and i hope that i am able to show the contrast.
after having a nice little chat to ms mace, i have decided to form my councellor character around the character of ms perky - the guidance councellor in 10 things i hate about you. the only thing is, i need to show depth in my character so i will have to work on that.
i need to go and see mrs scheepers to talk to her about school councelling and why she decided to be one (possibly to build up a past for my character) and the different methods she uses.
the way i want to show my charcacter for the councellor is "weird" and "out there" but yet she knows how exactly to help people. the fact that she has different toys and items on her desk and around her office shows that she knows that different people cope in different ways. she knows this through her obvious experience. the fact that she knows that the drums drown out the voices in the girls head shows this.
ally has left the costume up to me with the description of "bright colours, go wild" IF ANYONE HAS ANY IDEAS, THAT WOULD BE FAAAAAABULOUS!!!!
now back onto the showgirl. i really want to show that she really has no life outside of the circus. it is the only thing she has focus on in her life. i'm not really sure how to show this, but i am working on it. i want her to be young, and naive, i think that in her saying that the circus is more important than family friends and the future - she is pretty naive.

mmm, rolls.
first thoughts when the roles were given out?
FOOKIN' 'ELL MAYYYYYTE.
a) trust ME to be the ugly duckling (ahhh, self confidence booster!)
b) how the fook am I going to show that I am a decent actor when I have to run around the stage being millions of tiny roles and,
c) I dont want a roll anymore, I want a bloody pie. (remembering Rob's speech)
but, as time has gone on.. almost 3 weeks I think now.. I have realised that it isn't so bad and I am actually looking forward to doing this. Obviously Ms Mace thinks I can achieve my best doing this (YEHHHH, I PUT MY TRUST IN YOU.. YOU BETTER GIVE ME RESULTS WOMAN!) haha, nooooo... it will be fabulous and I will work really hard to show that I am versitile and can actually act as a little school girl :\
well my fingers are crossed anyway.
ALSO, well done to everyone else on all the roles you were given, this play will turn out to be wonderful; and we will all get As...
wow... a hint of optimism. I'm getting better.

extreme dieting.
I hate the thought of anorexia. It makes me feel sick to know that there are girls out there who are thin as sticks, with bones hanging out.... who look in the mirror and think they are fat. It is really hard to understand the whole thing.
In class, we watched a program about skinny celebrities, and it is amazing what some people will go through and do just to look "good". I don't even think it looks good... I can understand wanting to be thinner... just not to that extreme?
"Eating disorders are a range of mental health problems that involve preoccupations with food, weight and appearance to the degree that a person’s health, relationships and daily activities are adversely affected. Anorexia Nervosa (anorexia) and Bulimia Nervosa (bulimia) are two of the most recognised and most serious eating disorders. Anorexia Nervosa is characterised by a preoccupation with thinness, even though the person is underweight. Bulimia Nervosa is characterised by cycles of binge eating followed by behaviour to prevent weight gain. Individuals may have a mixture of symptoms and some people develop bulimia nervosa after anorexia nervosa. Both illnesses can be overcome, and the sooner the person seeks advice about the condition the better. Eating disorders are widespread and can affect people of all ages and both sexes, but they are more common in adolescent girls and young women. Statistics vary, but anorexia is thought to affect less than one per cent of teenage girls and young women. Estimates suggest that about two per cent of adolescent girls and young women have bulimia. Approximately five per cent of people with anorexia are male. It is thought that the number of males with bulimia may be somewhat higher. Some people develop eating disorders after a distressing event, but this is not the case for everyone. There is no scientifically established cause for eating disorders. "

move it. (aha i am so lame)
During class lately we have been looking at movement, and rather acting out a personality.. we act out emotions. I enjoy it because it's helping to really stretch out our acting abilities. I like trying new things so it's good :)
This year, there are no auditions for the parts that we may want, Ms Mace is choosing the characters on what she thinks we can do well, or what we may excell at. Most of the class are really uneasy about this whole thing, but i think it is good! ...Probably because I have no idea what charcater I want to be, but I still think it will give us all a chance to maybe do something we thought we couldn't...
